1994 Steinmetz Riesling Spatlese Muhlheimer Sonnenlay
This is one of those wines where I was glad to taste and bring in all at the same time. So far the people who have been buying this love it because it is a German Riesling made for people who like traditional German Rieslings. HUGE notes of wet stone and petrol on the nose but then once it hits the palate there is this beautiful level of minerals and sugar. Wine is very thick and tends to leave your mouth coated with a loving feel. I'm not sure how long the 1994 will be around but I'd think it will hanging around in the bottle for another 5-10 years or longer. This is NOT a German Riesling made for the American palate but a Riesling made for a true Riesling lover. That is me!
