Valenzano Winery, Shamong Red $9.99

Being that I'm kinda new to the wine world in New Jersey, I have yet to really go out and try many of the wines made in this state. Valenzano is one of the largest wineries in the state and uses their own estate fruit. They make the normal red and white wines, and also produce a handful of specialty and fruit wines.

I was tasting the Shamong Red in the store today, just to see what people thought about it. Turned out pretty good as people were buying it up like hot cakes.

Wine is clear with nice red or burgundy hue. Oops, can't use the word "burgundy" anymore, french might get mad. Has a great nose of sweet fruit and juicy berries. Gave it a slight chill, the wine had a hint of RS. OK it has a helping of RS. Sweet on the finish. Lots of fruit on this wine.

Tasted on 3/14/09 via me
